FPL Group, Inc.. The Group's principal activity is to generate, transmit, distribute and market electric energy. The Group conducts its operations through its three segments: FPL, FPL Energy and Corporate and Other. FPL segment is a rate-regulated public utility, supplies electric service to approximately 4.4 million customer accounts throughout most of the east and lower west coasts of Florida. FPL Energy segment invests in independent power projects through both controll ed and consolidated entities and non-controlling ownership interests in joint ventures essentially all of which are accounted for under the equity method. Corporate and Other segment represents other business activities, primarily FPL FiberNet, which leases wholesale fiber-optic network capacity and dark fiber to FPL and other customers. The Group operates in domestic market. On 28-Sep-2007, the Group acquired Point Beach Nuclear Power Plant. |
